| Overview: |
The Department of Biochemistry is involved in the teaching of students of First MBBS course which is affiliated to the Rajasthan university of Health Sciences ,Jaipur(RUHS,Jaipur) Besides, training is imparted to students of M.Sc. Medical biochemistry course of RUHS,JAIPUR .The student strength for MBBS course is 150 while M.Sc. (Medical Biochemistry) course is five. A well qualified and experienced group of teaching faculty is available for teaching these courses.
The department is part of Department of Laboratory Medicine (Central Clinical Laboratory) of Geetanjali Hospital where in Biochemical Investigations are carried out on patients both routine and emergency basis. The department also indulges in research activities in the field of clinical biochemistry.

| Course Curriculum: |
First year MBBS Biochemistry:
Theory 100 Marks : 2 Papers of 50 Marks Each.
(One applied question in each paper)
(Each paper shall have two sections i.e. section A and Section B of 26 and 24 marks respectively)
Paper I: Chemistry and metabolism of carbohydrate, Lipids, amino acids, proteins, nucleotides and Hemoglobin, Diet and nutrion, enzymes, Hormones And biological oxidation.
Paper II: Molecular biology, Immunochemistry, Cancer, AIDS, Xenobiotics, Water & electrolyte balance, Function tests for liver, kidney, thyroid and pancreas |
